Quick answer: Valorant Champions 2026, the year’s biggest Valorant event, ends in Shanghai on 18 October. LOUD and Team Vitality meet in the upper-bracket final on 16 October for a direct place in the Grand Final, while NRG, T1 and 100 Thieves fight on in the lower bracket.
How Did We Get Here?
Playoffs began on 7 October at the Jing’an Sports Center.
In the upper semi-finals, LOUD beat NRG 2-1 on 10 October, and Vitality beat G2 Esports 2-0 (Esports Insider, Redington Cybersport). That sets up a rematch: Vitality beat LOUD 2-0 in the group stage, and they’re the only team to have beaten LOUD at the event so far.

LOUD vs Vitality: The Big One
LOUD’s run has been full of comebacks. Vitality, though, have their number this year. Expect a fight over map picks. The winner gets a rest day and a direct Grand Final place. The loser has to get through the lower bracket final.
Lower Bracket: Who Can Go All the Way?
NRG dropped down after losing to LOUD and now face T1 again, after beating them 2-0 earlier in the playoffs. 100 Thieves are also alive. Lower-bracket runs to the title do happen in Valorant, but they need a team to play four or five series at peak level.
Off the Server: Riot’s New Valorant Boss
In the same week, Riot named Joe Lee as Valorant game director, replacing Andy Ho, and hired former EA creator lead Mitchel Inkrott as Global Head of Influencer Strategy (esports.gg). Neither has spelled out their priorities yet.
